Remember the days - back when Mom and Dad would constantly nag to bring a sweater, clean your plate, check in with a phone call when out late? Most of us couldn't wait to grow up and get out on our own - but before you know it, your role with your parents often reverses as they get older. Especially if you don't live in the same immediate vicinity as your parents, suddenly you find that YOU are the one worried when you don't get that expected phone call from them. Ironic, huh?

Note: So it's not news, but it is funny. Received a similar email like this several years before Larry the Cable Guy showed up, but it still brings a smile, irregardless of who you blame it on. Thanks for sending it to me.

Guest writes "Recently I have been receiving hate mail from a Retired Police Officer by the Name of ?????. I am a Dachshund Breeder, Architect, and Disabled Veteran. I also have a Cafe Press Store. Mr. ???? did not find my political views the same as his own. He has harassed me and my background as a US Army Disabled Vet. I feel that the Community Should know about his views of our returning soldiers.

Note: I debated whither to post this or not. I don't consider it a news item, but more in line with a conflict between 2 individuals in which one person wants to air his grievances and this site will not be used for personal attacks (I took out the names). The decision to post was more to make a comment on the state of our society at the moment. For some reason we are losing the ability to be civil to one another when their views differ from our own. I don’t know the 2 individuals involved in this, but name calling neither strengthens a position nor convinces the other person to accept your side of the argument. I believe that the best advice came from Abe when he said, “I defeat my enemy when I make him my friend!” Ok, maybe Abe didn’t say that and maybe I changed the words around, but imagine what our society would be like, if we offer friendship instead of name calling to those who disagree with us. Well, it’s just a thought and I hope these 2 can resolve their differences peaceably.

I liked this and it is something we all need to be reminded of!

How does the story go - the Devil was given a choice between Hell or Texas and he chose Hell...well, got this in the email from Sandy's 52 Best and thought I would share it.
Note: When I need a good laugh, I pull this one out of the archives!! Got to love these Texas summers - heat & humidity - makes you wonder how people survived before ac...

Temperature is getting in the 85+ range and the humidity is approaching 100%! A sure sign that it won't be long before schools will be closing their doors for the summer break. So what do you do with the kids?

Guest writes " The government recently calculated the cost of raising a child from birth to18 and came up with $160,140 for a middle income family. Talk about sticker shock! That doesn't even touch college tuition. But $160,140 isn't so bad, if you break it down. It translates into:
